But something about the feisty beauty caught his eye the moment he first saw her in the diner. After a hot night under a starry sky, Matt can't deny their attraction - or the fact that for the first time in a long time, he feels the stirrings of something more. DAWN'S THOUGHTS:

We're back in Lucky Harbor for another mouth watering, steamy romance from Jill Shalvis. This time, we're following on the story from book 4 Lucky In Love (read my review here), only we're focusing on the second member of the chocoholics club; Amy.

Amy has had a tough childhood, and it's made her tougher in adulthood, so tough that when Matt Bowers, Forest Ranger AKA Ranger Hot Pants who comes to her rescue one day when she finds herself lost in the mountains, calls her Tough Girl. If only he knew just the reasons behind her tough exterior! Amy has put up so many emotional guards, she doesn't let anyone in. Sex is .. just sex, no emotion, no attachment, and no hurt. So, when Matt takes her eye and makes her question everything, it more than throws her a little.

Matt has been in Lucky Harbor a while, he's friends with Ty who we met in book 4, and they trained together in the past. Matt's also running, from his past, only its not really a secret. He failed in his marriage...or so he blames himself. And now he's here not wanting to build any bond with any female for fear of hurting them again. Amy has caught his attention on more than one occasion, but she's a Tough Girl, and hard work. Yet he finds himself compelled by her, and whilst he knows the trails in the mountains like the back of his hand, he has no map to understanding the feelings in his heart... for Amy.

More than once, Amy and Matt are drawn back to each other, and through having to work together to help not just themselves, each other, but a young girl in need, they have to try and trust each other and themselves.

***
I absolutely devoured this book, and I loved every second of it. I just cant put into words how talented Jill Shalvis is. Her writing is consistent and of a supreme high standard. She didn't falter once in this novel, it followed on nicely from the previous book, and I regard her work as serious contenders for the main screen. I am in no doubt about recommending her work to the world, as anyone who doesn't read a novel by her is seriously missing out. I for one, will not be without books by Jill on my shelf, and I would put my reputation as a book blogger, a book reviewer and a reader of fiction on the line to support Jill and her work.

She is my absolute favourite author, who deserves all the success in the world. I will be continuing to read and review her novels in the Lucky Harbor series, and also have the pleasure of receiving her newest addition; Second Chance Summer (Cedar Ridge Book 1) which is available for pre-order now.
