A Rise in Crime : Why I will be adding a touch of the 'naughty' to A Page of Love
Thursday, 15 January 2015
Hi everyone,
I hope you're all having a fabulous start to 2015!
Do you remember when I posted about my 1st Blogiversary? And I mentioned that in the coming year I fully intended on expanding A Page of Love?
Well, it seems that The Universe (God Bless it) has decided to help me with this. I have been approached by publicists from a couple of publishing houses to consider doing something right out of my genre comfort zone ~ Review Crime Fiction!
So, I really toyed with the idea because if i'm honest, i'm not really a fan of reading crime fiction, saying that though, i haven't really tried, so I guess how would I know if I didn't try? I have always been a chick-lit and women's fiction and romance kinda gal, which is one of the leading reasons my blog is called A Page of Love. I never really entertained the idea of reading crime fiction because having a father who was a Police Officer, Dog Handler and Plan Drawer for the Murder Squad in the Met, it kind of wasn't something I wanted to do. Having heard the god awful recounts of some of Dad's work in High Profile cases, I wanted something light hearted and fun.
But, I have decided to give the Crime Fiction a go. I have around 4 books lined up up until around April/May 2015 so lots to tempt you with. If they aren't your cup of tea then please, don't avoid visiting my blog, because I will always be a chick lit, women's fiction and romance girl at heart and they will be coming thick, fast and furious this year. I can't tell you how many exciting things I have lined up already to the middle of the year with chick lit and romance, so be sure to stick around.
So, fans of Broadchurch, Suspects, CSI Miami ( I love Heratio), NCIS (Gibbs!! That it all!) I have lots of exciting sneak peeks, Author Involvement, Reviews, News and much more coming your way soon!
Just out of interest, if you can leave a message below (just short and sweet) and let me know how you feel about;
A Page of Love is for Chick Lit, Crochet, & Crime Fiction!!

Much Love

Title: If You're Not the One
Author: Jemma Forte
A Page of Love Rating:
Book Description:
Ever wondered what life would be like if you'd made different decisions? Chosen another career? Said yes to that date? Or married someone else?
Jennifer Wright is full of 'what if' questions.
If she'd stayed with unconventional, carefree Aidan, would she be enjoying life in sun-kissed Australia?
Should she have married fabulously wealthy, workaholic Tim?
Could she have found happiness after all with kind, gentle Steve?
Jennifer’s about to find out. After a terrible row with her husband, she runs out of the house and straight into the path of a car. Whilst in a coma she’s given the gift of seeing exactly how each choice she's made has dramatically altered her life.
But maybe those answers leave her with even more life-changing decisions to make…
Dawn's Thoughts:
I actually REALLY loved this! It reminded me a lot of Ali Harris' Written in the Stars that I read in 2014, yet it was different enough to not feel as though you were reading the same story.
It was original, and kept me on the edge of my seat for the 3 days it took me to devour it because simply put, I couldn't put it down!
Jennifer is basically having a mid life crisis, one of those moments in life where you wake up and suddenly wonder if you made the right choices in life, if this is ALL there is, and what if.... you'd done things differently.
We've all had those WHAT IF moments, and I couldn't help nodding along as Jennifer's story unfolded. We always wonder what if...about out exes, we do it ladies, and maybe only our closest girlfriends know, but in this book, it's OK to admit to Jennifer that you know exactly what she's going through.
It starts with Jen running away from Max, her husband in a rather Bridget Jones styled way, and before you know it she's been hit, and is being taken to hospital where she is in a coma.
Whilst she's in her comatose state she gets the chance to go tunnel travelling to all the possibilities that could have been. She gets to see what life would have been like had she gone to Australia with Aiden (who is more laid back than an ozzie) rather than University, or marry Tim, creator of reUNIon... the super rich guy who at first looks amazing, but, i don't know about you, but when I read about life with him, I had to verbally declare that Jennifer, in my opinion should absolutely stay clear of him, and lastly there is Max, her husband. But in amongst those three suitors, there lies a WILD CARD in the form of JOE, and well, who knows... Maybe Jemma Forte, can enlighten us a bit more on Joe, I know I'd love a follow up!
This book will keep you page turning, give you cramp in your hand from not letting the book go, and you will be on the edge of your seat more times than Jennifer is on the edge of those tunnels!
An absolute MUST READ that will have you evaluating and questioning your life.
I will leave you with this;
What if.... you bought the book and read an absolutely amazing story?
Title: Jenny Lopez Saves Christmas
Author: Lindsey Kelk
Publisher: Harper
Format: Kindle/E-Book
Price: £0.99
A Page of Love Rating:
Book Description:
I Heart short story: a new story starring Jenny Lopez. From the bestselling author of What a Girl Wants and I Heart Christmas.
Sleighbells ring, are you listening…
Who wouldn’t want to escape to a cabin in snowy Vermont for Christmas? Jenny Lopez’s year has gone wrong, and Vermont with champagne and a sparkly Christmas tree is going to mend everything, along with her best friend Angela.
She hits a few obstacles along the way, including a major work crisis and some unexpected Christmas companions. But this is Jenny Lopez. She’s determined to have the best Christmas known to man, even if it means dragging a turkey three miles in the snow.
Single-handedly and in a Santa outfit Jenny Lopez is going to save Christmas - and have the best holiday season ever.
Dawn's Thoughts:
I flippin' loved this short story! It was fun, it was sarcastic, It was pure Jenny Lopez! Lindsey Kelk is one of my favourite authors who has written the amazing I Heart series, (which I really should re-read this year in an I HEART-ATHON, and review for you) and About a Girl along with, What a Girl Wants... Lindsey knows what her Chick Lit fans want, and this year, she gave us this beauty!
Jenny Lopez is sarcastic, funny, and just a downright hoot to hang out with. Seriously if I could call her up I KNOW i'd had the time of my life.
At one point (16% into the book) I could totally relate to the use of strong language that Jenny was using, because at that point, I'd had a day just like it. You couldn't help but smirk and giggle!
Jenny goes away for a christmas break to "no mans land" with her friends, she offers to be the first there and decorate the tree and make it full on christmas there for when the others arrive. Thing is, her friend who accompanies her, well she's not exactly hands on, so it's up to Jenny to ensure the food gets there, ... in all that snow, and make sure it has heating and light. (That's not so easy). At one point Jenny has to go out in the snow to COLLECT the food and on her way back she breaks down. I loved how Jenny was verbalizing her fears and actually said a lot of what would have been going through my mind had I broken down in the middle of now-where. When someone comes along and offers to help she thinks he could be out to murder her or kidnap her which whilst serious acts, are actually approached in a fun and belly laugh way. It's amazing that I laughed out loud so easily with this one, and I feel like Jenny and Lindsey could be sisters (or alter egos!)
I loved that there was a little romance or.. POTENTIAL ROMANCE for Jenny at the end, and the way they were drawn together reminds me an awful lot of me and my man... sometimes it happens in the most humorous of ways. I'd love to see Jenny come back and have some hilarious and outrageous romance!
