Hello gorgeous,
I wanted to share something with you today that may surprise some of you, and for other's you might just feel a huge weight lifted off of your shoulder's knowing that you are not alone in feeling this way.
Have you ever had a really crappy day where absolutely everything that could go wrong did go wrong? Maybe you've had a few days like this, each strung together making you feel highly strung yourself. I know I have. And I still do.
Yes, I may be doing a lot better with my anxious moments, but I still have those crappy days. I had one yesterday in fact. Which is what has led me to share my story with you, in the hope that by my owning my story and sharing my authenticity with you, you will find strength, comfort and a way forward yourself.
So first, let me tell you briefly about my crappy string of days. (oh joy!)
Well, I've been on somewhat of a rollercoaster of emotions which is all normal and part of being human, but I was getting more and more interconnected days of sheer crap being thrown at me in one way or another. Yes it did all get worse because of my perception of it and I could have chosen to see it as a lesson and see what I could do to love the situations, but I didn't. I had one of those crazy normal human moments and decided to wallow. Oh don't we love a good wallow?
So anyway, yesterday was the catalyst for change. It reached the eruption moment where my emotions transformed from frustration to anger, to full on flowing tears and finally to peace. Hallelujah!
So today I decided that even though I felt calmer, I felt more inner peace, and less anxious and stressed out, it was time for a Semi- Self Care Day. I was not prepared to throw myself into the day with the previous stressy days on my tail. I needed to feel the peace in my entire day before I could allow myself to step foot onto the hot coals of normal life. I'm blessed to have the ability to take a semi- self care day working part time and being a student, I don't have the 9-5 daily grind. But if like me you can't take the whole day for self care, here's my top 5 ways that you can incorporate Self Care into your Day in order to reconnect, recharge, and reboot yourself.
1.) Take 5-15 minutes to yourself and do something calming - This could be a brief moment of meditation or even checking in with Natalie Macneil's SoulShots from her SoulSeconds website. I adore getting my daily SoulShot and regularly post mine to my instagram account. Sometimes I even make use of time in the restroom to do this!! You gotta utilise your day people!
2.) Disconnecting for at least 5-10 minutes - I struggled with this at first but now I look forward to it. At any point throughout the day, when I know that it is safe to do so, I switch off my WiFi, close my laptop, put my mobile phone in a drawer switched off, and I just disconnect for everyone. This allows me to do things without a distraction and I feel free for those brief moments in a day.
3.) Take a Cleansing Bath - This is my sanctuary time, and I have at least an hour for this. I fill the bathtub with sea salt, pop on spa inspired music and read a book.
4.) Go for a walk - Honestly, don't underestimate the power of a walk and the wonders it can do for you. I used to feel all uncomfortable going for a walk and sitting in a park, but as part of my ME TIME now I look forward to this time. Knowing that I am walking alone and am going to get 5 minutes to myself is all the motivation I need to get there - which helps boost my cardio in my day!
5.) And lastly, Move Your Body - I don't care what form of exercise you do, ballet, barre, pilates, yoga, rock climbing, swimming, running, Beachbody Programs (one of my favourites!), going to the gym or walking. Whatever it is, just move your body for 30 minutes. In the words of Elle Woods aka Legally Blonde; "Exercise gives you endorphins, Endorphins make you happy - and happy people just don't kill people!" HaHa, Ok so maybe not as dramatic as that, but you get my point? Exercise boosts the bodies production of serotonin, and anyone who is depressed or suffers from SAD will tell you - Serotonin is the good stuff.
5.5) An add on point; Honour your GUT - I'm serious, around 90% of the bodies natural made serotonin is made in your .... GUT so when we wellness coaches and bloggers talk about GUT health, we are doing so for your health, wellbeing and happiness - literally! I'll be talking more in the future about this exact point so keep an eye out!
Let me know how you get on implementing my top 5 (5.5) tips on bringing self care into your day by leaving a comment below. Perhaps you have your own self care day tips - awesome!! Leave YOUR top tips in the comments below for everyone to benefit from, and share the wellbeing!

Hello Gorgeous!
Today I have a book that I am seriously so excited about because it has transformed my own wellness practice and is one of my favourite ways to discover more and more about myself. This book describes how I date myself!
When Katie Dalebout published Let It Out, I couldn't wait to get my hands on a copy because being a serial planner addict and a hoarder of pretty journals, I KNEW it would be right up my street. I am one of those people that buys a gorgeous journal because you know, I can't live without it, and then once I get it home, I paw over it carefully and then put it safe so it doesn't get spoilt. And I never write in it.
Katie tells you to do the opposite of what I do... well halfly (is that even a word???). Katie implores you to invest in a gorgeous journal and pen and actually write in it. Like make marks resembling writing in the gorgeous immaculate journal! I know, for me it's still a work in progress but I promise you Katie, I'm getting better. I know that using the gorgeous journals are a way of showing myself love and respect because I deserve to use them! It's still a case of needing support meetings for it though ;)
Anyway, back to the book in hand - literally!
Let it Out is truly transformational and so powerfully healing on all levels. There is no need to be into spirituality, it's not that kind of self help book. This book is a tool that every woman, entrepreneur, creative contessa, solopreneur, wellness revolution thriver and GirlBoss NEEDS. I'm serious. There is everything in here to help you plan your meals better, be more productive in your day, honour yourself and your emotions, manifest and create all sorts of goodness - aka - Abundance in your lives.
I've tried quite a few of these techniques out and I have to say I was sceptical at how much they would actually help me. I was concerned they would take up precious time in my life. BUT I was proved wrong. They actually helped me feel stronger in myself and my wellbeing benefited from them.
I'm no newbie to journalling. I have used Morning Pages (Thank you Julia Cameron - The Artists Way), and I've done free-writing (Thank You University & Gabby Bernstein) and as I've mentioned before; I'm a planner addict. So the actual concept of Let It Out was not new to me, but what was new and refreshing to me was Katie's exercises given throughout the book.
Now, you don't just get a journal exercise at the end of each chapter... oh no...the actual book is FULL to the brim of Journal exercises...
So if you are like me and like the idea of becoming more productive, more organised, more in control, more creative, less stressed and overwhelmed and having a good time whilst journalling in your super gorgeous journals... then THIS book is SO for you!!

It's basically a modern journalling encyclopedia for transformationThere is a very small introduction (in comparison to the rest of the book) that is where Katie shares her journey, her findings of journalling and explains how to go about beginning your journey through journaling. Every single page afterwards is journalling exercises. There is over 200 pages of journal exercises.. yes 200 pages!!

Hello Gorgeous!
Today I have a review of a book that is one of my top reads of 2016. I adored it so much and would love to read a follow on book!
The second this book landed on my kindle to read from Simon & Schuster UK (THANK YOU!) I began devouring it. I couldn't stop reading. Heidi had absolutely nothing to worry about with this book, in fact Heidi... if I were you I'd be channelling that worry into book 2! *angel face*
I adored this book for so many reasons, and if it were in paperback I could gush about how the cover always made me smile gazing up at me whenever I managed to put it down, but alas on the kindle I didn't have that so much, but even so. The cover is utterly beautiful, and the contents inside are simply fabulous!
Heidi made me smile SO much with this book that I have to say she caught me out. I thought I knew where the story was going... you know the typical woman chooses career abroad aka opportunity of a lifetime and wishes she'd chosen the man, returns home and discovers he's moved on and in fact just before we end the book we discover they do still love each other and finally have a happily ever after together???? Yeah, I was wrong! Because whilst that is a fabulous storyline, what Heidi has written is OMG SO MUCH BETTER!!!
I could tell you how it really goes... but NO... You must read it for yourself and be inspired at how TRUE LOVE really does shine through this story and how realistic and utterly relatable it is. I know I could imagine this actually happening.
I would not hesitate for a split second on recommending this book and it is so brilliant that I am debating whether it could actually knock off my current number 1 read of 2016!
